Title: Interaction Between Laser Therapy and Oralfacial Harmonization
Introduction: Laser therapy is a treatment with a therapeutic purpose through the incidence of an electromagnetic beam of laser light with a specific wavelength. Orofacial Harmonization is a new specialty of Dentistry responsible for the aesthetic and functional balance of the face, through different techniques and materials.
Objectives: The main objective of the lecture will be to show how laser therapy can help in the prognosis of Orofacial Harmonization procedures through its local and systemic action.
Methodology: The concepts of laser therapy will be shown through the presentation of clinical cases performed by the author, in order to illustrate the applicability of the modified ILIB protocol of systemic laser; laser and led biphotonics combined with the action of dermocosmetics for skin treatment; and antimicrobial photodynamic therapy for the treatment of complications that may occur in Orofacial Harmonization treatment modalities.
Conclusion: The search for aesthetic perfection requires technological innovation, materials, and new techniques in pre- and postoperative treatments in orofacial harmonization. In this context, the beneficial effects provided by low-intensity laser therapy on biological tissues are excellently ally with the clinical practice of the specialty.
